Very important book for educators

This book is an excellent introduction and manual for Brain Gym. It not only explains in detail how to do the simple excercises, but gives many scientific explanations for how and why they work.

For those who don't know, Brain Gym is a method whereby brain functions are accessed by performing simple physical movements, and it has been found to profoundly improve ADD/ADHD/Dyslexic conditions as well as other learning disabilities. It is a series of exercises (drawn from all areas of movement -- from the calisthenics we did in phys-ed class to the eye exercises of behavioral optometrists, to acu-pressure points) specifically studied and narrowed down after many years of research to those that were found to optimally affect brain functions. Luckily they are all easy and take only minutes (or even seconds) to do, and they get immediate, verifiable results. In my experience they help students and professionals of all ages learn faster, improve memory and coordination, and generally reduce the stress of adjusting to new situations or learning foreign or difficult tasks.
In my own experience, I no longer teach violin without integrating Brain Gym exercises because the students learn so much faster and develop better technique because they are more relaxed, naturally. I have also taught Brain Gym to writers, musicians, actors, doctors, mathematicians, teachers, dancers, investment bankers, producers etc. and the feedback is consistently positive. If you are a teacher and are interested in this kind of thing, classes are recommended, but the next best thing is to have this little book!

Very similar to 3rd ed. and a lot cheaper.

I bought a copy of the text for an Economic Public Finance course requiring the use of the 3rd edition to cut back on costs. When I compared this text to the 3rd edition, there were only a few differences that I noticed-

- Discussion questions had a few differences (Re-arranged, numbers changed slightly, ect)
- Charts and figures in the 3rd edition had more recent information (especially relevant in chapters 21-25)
- Chapter on Social Security had another (small) section in it.

If you need this textbook for a class but do not need the discussion questions, I would recommend this textbook over the newer one. There is virtually no difference between the two. If you need the updated charts and graphs from the newer edition, most of them are available in the PowerPoint presentations on the publisher's website.

I found this book through MIT's Open Courseware, it is an excellent read if you like the textbook style. The author does not seem to be bent on pushing one economic approach and explains the topics in a common sense manner.

A great companion to an online course, but stands alone well, too

I purchased this book after purchasing Dr. Damlaris' corresponding course on udemy.com. That course provided a detailed introduction to the Arduino, and real-world examples that get built upon from lesson to lesson. This book was clearly developed to complement the online course, and it provides a handy reference to the major topics needed by someone new to Arduino development. Even if you have no interest in taking the online course, this is a succinct reference that any Arduino developer can use.

Dr. Dalmaris has a well thought out, understandable style, and (from my experience with his online courses) he has a strong desire to help his students and customers learn.
