Practical - Fun - Get Started!

A very, very, practical approach to diving in and building your own wierd bikes (and I thought I was the only one!) Doesn't assume much of any prior bike knowledge or skill. Also not clouded by any predujice or opinion on one type of biking vs, another - just focused on basic building and fun. Lots of cool projects and ideas - I feel "scooped" on a few. Check out the Atomic Zombie site for the latest cool tallbike.
Does assume that you have some basic tool and metalworking skills, but still beginner-friendly.

Not Quite as Expected, But Has a Variety of Bikes to Build

This book was only OK, simply put because all the bikes form their website (atomiczombie.com) remain only online and not in this book. The bikes on the website are the eye catching and cool looking ones, and this book does have a few interesting but not very practical bikes to build.

I'd think twice about buying this book because unless you have plans to build a skyscraper bike or something that is very non-practical, then you shouldn't get this book. Don't get me wrong, it is a good book for certain people and if you like bizarre and crazy bikes, this is for you. Otherwise, I'd suggest getting a plan from the internet based off their site.

Ok, for beginners

This book is OK for beginners. It has good welding, chopping and technical tips but no significant and attractive designs. The designs are outdated and honestly not something I want to be seen with in public. The online designs are much more attractive and up to date. So if you are a experienced welder and chopper just get the online designs. If you are just starting out this book will help you on the way. Hence the 3 stars. If, even some of, the designs where included the 5 stars would be appropriate.

Richard P. Appelbaum, the MacArthur chair of Global Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, has won several awards for his teaching and works mainly on globalization and labor issues. Appelbaum is the coauthor of Behind the Label.

Deborah Carr is a demographer and an active teacher at Rutgers University, where she regularly teaches the intro course. Her work focuses on sociology of the life course, aging, social psychology, and gender. Carr's latest book, Worried Sick: How Stress Hurts Us and How to Bounce Back, looks at how stress gets under our skin, makes us sick, and how and why people cope with stress differently.

Great Substitute textbook for the most recent edition.

This book was purchased as a textbook for a college Sociology class. The book was the version prior to the current textbook, but other than some more current statistics, this book filled the need. This textbook was amazing because of the significant reduction in price. The book was in fair condition.
